RCAP is pleased to announce its 2010 Annual Training Conference in partnership with the Housing Assistance Council (HAC)'s National Rural Housing Conference. RCAP's event will kick off on November 30, while the HAC's program begins on December 1. The complete schedule for the event is now available.
Both events will take place at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park. This hotel is located in northwest D.C., in close proximity to many of Washington's most famous attractions, including the National Zoological Park and the National Cathedral. Nearby Connecticut Avenue boasts many quality local shops and restaurants. The proximity of the hotel to the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Metro station on the red line makes it easy to explore the entire city.
This year's conference will feature sessions (workshops) within three tracks:
- Doing our Work More Effectively: sessions topics include outreach, mediation and conflict resolution, techniques for knowledge retention, and tips for becoming an engaging trainer
- Management, Finance, and Administration: session topics include engaging the community, user-friendly rate-setting tools, and creating sustainable small utilities
- Water and Wastewater Technical: sessions topics include water treatment and wastewater collection in non-technical language, advanced new technologies in water treatment, and troubleshooting Q&A
In addition to RCAP's programming, RCAP participants are permitted to cross-attend sessions provided by HAC on December 1 and 2, when the conferences overlap. Tracks for HAC's sessions include:
- Heading Home - Creating affordable housing options
- From Crisis to Organization - Strengthening organizational capacity
- Exploring the Countryside - Finding the resources to support your mission
- Plowing new ground - Innovative approaches and currently policy issues
